This trunk is made of alder wood and is decorated with applications where its deep carvings stand out in the front and along the sides. All of the closures—sheet metal, hinges and door knockers—are of the original hand-forged iron. The wood is not joined by nails but instead by using a tongue and groove method. Inside is a small box with a lid. This piece was found in a Colonial hacienda in Paucartambo, Cusco, and dates back to approximately the beginning of the 19th Century.
